Tagbilaran City, Bohol – The Bohol Renewable Energy Board (BREB) of the Provincial Government convened at Bohol Tropics Resort, hosted by the Bohol Association of Non-Government Organizations, Inc. (BANGON) under the Advancing Sustainable Provincial Investments for Renewable Energy (ASPIRE) project.

The meeting was presided over by Atty. Handel Lagunay of the Provincial Legal Office brought together the members of the Renewable Energy Board, Distribution Utilities, the Provincial Legal Office, representatives from the Department of Agriculture, Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Energy-VII, and a Renewable Energy Investor. The agenda covered a range of important presentations aimed at driving Bohol’s renewable energy transformation.

Ms. Gaynor Tanyang of Lumina Ventures, who served as the consultant for the drafting process, presented the draft Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the Bohol Renewable Energy Code. The draft IRR is set to become a cornerstone in shaping the province’s energy policy framework.

Engr. Rey Maleza, Division Chief of Energy Industry Management from the Department of Energy-Visayas Field Office, introduced participants to the Energy Virtual One Stop Shop (EVOSS), a digital platform to streamline renewable energy project processes.

Dr. Dave Pojadas, Chairperson of the Electrical Engineering Department at Bohol Island State University, highlighted Bohol’s immense renewable energy potential, reinforcing the province’s strategic position in advancing sustainable energy.

Engr. Raymond Allan C. Villapol and Ms. Maricris Levardo of Blue Haven Windkraft Corporation unveiled the ambitious Bohol II Anda Wind Power Project, showcasing how wind energy could contribute to the province’s energy mix.

The meeting concluded with a collaborative workshop on formulating guidelines and streamlining processes for endorsing renewable energy projects. Facilitated by Ms. Gaynor Tanyang and the Bohol Provincial Environment and Management Office, the workshop followed a participatory approach to strengthening policy implementation.

The success of the meeting reaffirmed the commitment of the Bohol Renewable Energy Board and its stakeholders to sustain, advocate, and accelerate renewable energy initiatives in the province.
