On October 18, 2024, SOI Suites in Talibon, Bohol, served as the venue as community leaders of three island barangays and key representatives from the Municipal Local Government Unit of Talibon gathered for a vital research result dissemination conducted by the University of Bohol Community Development Foundation, Inc. (UBCDFI). The activity is part of the Advancing Sustainable Provincial Investments for Renewable Energy (ASPIRE) Project.

The activity was graced by Municipal Administrator Jett E. Boyles, who warmly welcomed the participants, including Barangay Officials/Representatives from Barangay Calituban, Guindacpan, and Nocnocan, who are all eager to learn about the research findings. Dr. Gloria T. Casabal, the Executive Director of UBCDFI, opened the activity with a welcome statement. Followed by, Project Manager Jerrey Aguilar who introduced the BANGON initiative and the goals of the ASPIRE Project.

The research results were then presented, covering six key objectives: the profile of the respondents, the energy needs of the Barangay, the level of Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices of the inhabitants on Renewable Energy, the examination of Microgrid Viability, the electrification data and the offering of actionable key recommendations. The research team is composed of dedicated members of UBCDFI namely: Dr. Marilou V. Fudalan, Jennifer Aurea S. Tagaro, Edralyne Seth B. Besa, Brian Klein V Fernandez, Ivana Lei R. Rosales, June Grace B. Epe, Emmanuel Rod V. Fudalan and Arch. Elcid Tirol. The research was conducted across the three islands, engaging the communities directly.

As the research results were shared, participants listened intently, eager to understand the landscape of energy access within their communities. A Q&A session followed, allowing Barangay Representatives to engage directly with the findings and voice concerns and aspirations. Mr. Boyles from the Municipal Local Government Unit of Talibon responded, offering insights and assured future support for energy initiatives in their Municipality.

The event concluded with the symbolic turnover of the research outputs, a tangible representation of collaborative efforts to enhance energy access in the Municipality. Dr. Casabal delivered a closing statement, emphasizing the potential for renewable energy solutions on the three islands.

The day marked not just the sharing of results, but the beginning of a renewed determination to empower the islands of Calituban, Guindacpan, and Nocnocan through sustainable energy solutions.
