The Bohol Association of Non-Government Organization, Inc. (BANGON) in partnership with Caucus of Development NGO Networks (CODE NGO) conducted an Orientation on Social Accountability in Local Governance and Civil Society Report Card (CSRC) Tool and Training of Enumerators on June 27-28, 2024, held in JJS Seafood Village and Level 007, Tagbilaran City, Bohol, Philippines.
This activity aims to enhance CSOs’ awareness and understanding regarding social accountability in local governance and to capacitate CSOs with knowledge regarding Citizen/CSO monitoring of LGU performance promoting accountability and governance utilizing digital platforms for efficient and effective monitoring system towards improved service delivery of the local governments.
However, this activity was actively participated by 16 CSO leaders and members, including women, farmers, fishermen, irrigators, youth, NGOs, and members of the private sector. The trained CSO leaders will serve as the CSRC monitors/enumerators in carrying out the CSRC Roll-out/monitoring in their respective LGU. The primary objective of the CSRC is to obtain local civil society organizations’ opinions about the policies, programs, and services offered by their local government units. The information gathered will be utilized to generate insights that will assist local decision-makers in putting significant changes in place in the distribution of services. For this round of rollouts, the CSRC will focus on two areas of local government: (a) health services and (b) social protection.
This is part of implementation of the project entitled “Citizen Monitoring of LGU Performance Promoting Accountability and Governance in Health and Social Protection” implemented in the Municipalities of Talibon, Trinidad, and San Miguel, Bohol, Philippines.
